Crail

Not long before its 1965 closure, passengers (including the photographer's family in the foreground) wait to board an afternoon St Andrews - Edinburgh train at Crail's neat station and crossing loop on the single-track Fife Coast line. Latterly Crail had just four passenger trains a day, but one was a through service from Glasgow Buchanan Street, reflecting the traditional holiday attraction of the 'East Neuk' for Glaswegians. The original station building was subsequently incorporated within a garden centre on the site. See image 4505
