Grimsargh

A train for Whittingham hospital leaves the CMHW station at Grimsargh behind Barclay 0-4-2T No.2 (Works No. AB 1026/1904), sometime during WWI. At this point the hospital line curved away from the Preston and Longridge line that ran behind the low wooden fence. The two passenger coaches were later replaced by three converted ex-LNWR brakevans that lasted until the end of this 'free to ride' service in 1957. The loco, new to the line from Andrew Barclay, lasted in service until 1952 and was replaced by the Sentinel shunter Gradwell..
