Lostock Hall

Looking west from Watkin Lane, Lostock Hall, on 14 June 2009 as a Northern DMU heads for Preston with a Colne - Blackpool South service. What is now wasteland on the left of the picture is the site of the former Lostock Hall (10D) shed, one of the last outposts of steam on the BR network. Officially closed on 5 August 1968, the building continued to be used by British Rail Engineering for a further 20 years before being finally demolished in 1990.
