Looking west over the approach to Southport station on 15 October 2009. The Merseyrail platforms (1 to 3) are on the left and the Northern Rail platforms (4 to 6) are on the right. Merseyrail Class 507 and 508 units sit in Platform 1 and 2 and on the far left a pair of units sit in the Wallside siding. Northern Class 142s wait their next duties eastbound on platforms 5 & 6.
