Strensall

Once a common site in station yards across the land - the former coal drops at Strensall on the York - Scarborough line, seen here in April 2009. The signal box stands on the south side of the line beyond the wall, with the raised crossing barriers to the right. The old station (closed 1930) is on the other side of the crossing. The remains of the yard have been put to use by a local building firm.
