Crawford Viaduct [Camps Reservoir Railway]

View south across the River Clyde at Crawford on 5 August 2009, showing the railway bridge that once carried the 3 ft gauge line built on behalf of Lanarkshire County Council in the 1920s in connection with the construction of Camps reservoir. By the time the reservoir was completed in 1930 the line had served its purpose and was lifted within 10 years. In the background a Freightliner class 66 is about to run past the site of the transshipment sidings with northbound coal empties and will shortly cross the Clyde via a much more renowned (and photographed) structure see image 28957.
