Larpool Viaduct

View north over the Esk at Whitby on 20 April, showing part of the stunning thirteen arch Larpool Viaduct. This Scarborough & Whitby Railway viaduct, on which work began in 1882, carried the railway to West Cliff station see image 21088 on the north side of the river, from where it continued north west along the coast to Middlesbrough. This section of the line was closed in 1965 and now forms part of a walkway/cycleway.
