Appleby East
The level crossing gates and goods shed at Appleby East in February 2007. The station is to the right of the picture (towards Warcop). Passenger services were withdrawn in 1962 but freight remained between Appleby and Hartley Quarry until 1974 when it was cut back to Warcop serving the Army camp and training area until 1989. Appleby East yard and station is now the site of a local recycling company although the present Eden Valley Railway hopes to reopen the line from its base at Warcop to Appleby East.
