Midge Hall

Looking northeast across the level crossing at Midge Hall towards Preston on 24 June 2008. The former station and goods shed stand on the left and the Preston bound platform can still be seen amongst the weeds and vegetation. The Liverpool bound platform was in the undergrowth to the right of the signal post. This former double track main line, once used by Liverpool - Glasgow/Edinburgh express services, has now been split in two, with a DMU operating a shuttle service over the single line between Preston and Ormskirk, where same-platform interchange takes place with Merseyrail electric services.
