Wallyford Colliery Railway

Introduction

This was a private short mineral line which ran out from exchange sidings close to Wallyford [1st] station to the Wallyford colliery and brick works. The line passed from a starting point west of Wallyford on the East Coast Main Line and ran through the south of Wallyford to the colliery.

This brick works was near the end of a short branch which also served Wallyford Colliery Pit No 1 (to the north east) and Wallyford Colliery Pit No 3 (to the south east). The works was in the south east of the village of Wallyford. Today its site is a small industrial estate.
