| 09/08/1848 | Muirkirk Branch (Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock and Ayr Railway) Auchinleck to Muirkirk [1st] opened. The line served the Lugar Iron Works, the Muirkirk Iron Works and various coalmines. |
