Drumcondra and North Dublin Link Railway

Introduction

This line runs from Drumcondra Junction to Church Road Junction providing a more easily graded route than the older North Wall Extension (Midland Great Western Railway) line. It gave the Great Southern and Western Railway an independent route to the North Wall.

Dates

/ /1894	Drumcondra and North Dublin Link Railway Act for a line between Drumcondra Junction and Church Road Junction, and a curve from North Strand Junction to Dublin Amiens Street. This line follows an easier gradient than the parallel North Wall Extension (Midland Great Western Railway).
/ /1896	Drumcondra and North Dublin Link Railway Purchased by the Great Southern and Western Railway before opening.
/ /1901	Drumcondra and North Dublin Link Railway Opened by the Great Southern and Western Railway from Drumcondra Junction to Church Road Junction with stations at Glasnevin and Drumcondra.
/ /1903	Drumcondra and North Dublin Link Railway North Strand Junction to Dublin Amiens Street built but not opened due to argument.
/ /1906	Drumcondra and North Dublin Link Railway North Strand Junction to Dublin Amiens Street (Suburban Junction) opened (avoided the busy Newcomen Bridge Junction).
01/10/1907	Drumcondra and North Dublin Link Railway Local passenger service via North Strand Junction to Dublin Amiens Street ceases following tram competition.
22/11/1936	Midland Great Western Railway Drumcondra and North Dublin Link Railway New link installed at Glasnevin reversing the previous connection. This allows access to North Strand Junction from the Liffey Junction direction.
