Redecking and refurbishment of Arnside viaduct underway on 7th April with two rail mounted cranes busy supporting the engineering work. The opportunity is also being taken to repair Lindal tunnel near Barrow while the line is closed.

With the viaduct closed from March to July 2011 for renewal of the decking, Arnside station has become a temporary terminus. The contractor's site can be seen behind the buffers and fence built across the line and services from Carnforth are running wrong line to here before returning south. [See image 31078] for the same view seven months earlier.
