Rail thieves steal track [Doncaster Free Press]

More than three quarters of a mile of rail track has been stolen from a railway line in Tickhill, Doncaster.

Firbeck Junction, Tickhill, looking north to Doncaster. The line to the left runs to Doncaster and that to the right (out of use) to Harworth Colliery. The South Yorkshire Joint certainly was joint - involving the Great Central Railway, Great Northern Railway, Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway, Midland Railway and the North Eastern Railway companies.

The disused track at the former Harworth Colliery site. The view is towards the loading point. A very long conveyor crossed the nearby hills to reach this point. The extremely overgrown line to the right is the former Ranskill Line.
