Beamish purchases 'Dunrobin' [Beamish Transport News]

We are delighted to announce that after over 12 months of work and discussion we have agreed to purchase Dunrobin, the Sharp Stewart 0-4-4T built in 1895 for the Duke of Sutherland to use to haul his private train over Highland Railway lines (of which company he was a director).

The second station building at Dunrobin looking north. The little shed in the distance to the right of the railway was used to hold the Dukes carriage. The shed has since been demolished, but the disused bay platform at the north end remains.
