Architect submits alternate plan for rebuilding of Haymarket station [Herald]

A leading architect has challenged plans for the rebuilding of one of Scotland’s main train stations by submitting a tailor-made alternative.

Surprisingly for such a busy station Haymarket has no disabled access to 3 of its 5 platforms.  This long-felt want is at last being addressed with lifts to Platforms 2/3 and to 4.  Seen on 20 November, with the 1842 'A' listed station building in the background, the tower for the lift to Platforms 2 and 3 is substantially complete.  The lift to Platform 4 is in a similar state.  Platform 1 together with the seldom-used Platform 0 have level access.
