Blackpool Balloon Car No. 712, dating from the 1930s and still in broadly original condition, pulls up at Fleetwood Ferry Terminal on a driver training run. The passenger ferry for Knott End, only a short distance away across the Wyre Estuary, is now operating regularly again and leaves from a jetty just through the arch by the tram stop.

When current plans come to fruition Fleetwood will be served by new articulated light rail vehicles on all regular services. Blackpool's historic trams, such as restored 717 seen here entering Lord Street, will usually be confined to the central part of the system in Blackpool itself. The former Woolworths store, now empty, fronts onto the street at this point.
