Manchester Scotland micro-franchise idea floated by DfT Rail [Modern Railways]

Date: 21/10/2009

Department for Transport (DfT Rail) has revealed that a new franchise could be responsible for Manchester Glasgow services when the Liverpool Manchester electrification is completed in January 2013. The Manchester Scotland franchise would take over the current TransPennine Express services provided by class 185 DMUs which currently run 'under the wires' for most of the journey.
