Train operator Virgin has said Arriva will find the Cross Country franchise in good shape when it takes over next month. The route, which includes a number of services to and from Edinburgh, was given over to Arriva in July having been in Virgin's hands for the past decade. Handover takes place on November 11 and the new franchise deal runs until 2016. [Evening News 11 October]
