Dunbar: Potential loss of CrossCountry train services branded 'crazy' [East Lothian Courier]

Date: 16/02/2023

A potential reduction in rail services stopping at Dunbar station has been labelled crazy.

Plans were revealed on Monday which show a significantly reduced service at the county station.

Both Rail Action Group East of Scotland (RAGES) and Dunbar Community Council have been made aware of the proposals, which could come into effect this summer.

A CrossCountry service for Plymouth pulls out of Dunbar on 20 November 2019. Work proceeds on the new Down platform which is due to open for business early next year. Perhaps this should have opened in 1846 so stopping Down trains didn't have to cross the Up Main for 173 years. Meanwhile with one platform it is never easy to photograph trains satisfactorily - as you can see.
