The traditional running-in board seen at Barnstaple (formerly Barnstaple Junction) station on 22 April 2017. The station - junction for no fewer than four different standard-gauge lines in its heyday, and formerly boasting three through platforms - is now just a single-track terminus, although a short loop remains in situ south of the station. However, loco-hauled charter trains rarely visit the branch, as structures limit the line speed to 30 mph (60 mph for diesel units).
