Listed building consent to improve the waiting room at Saltcoats railway station has been granted by North Ayrshire Council after parts of the existing building were deemed unsafe and un-salvageable.

A Glasgow service arrives at the one-time Saltcoats Central station on 17 October 2018. The station retains original buildings on both sides, though the Down building (out of shot) is not in rail use. It is a nice wee cafe, as it seems mandatory to say in these circumstances.
