Story picked for Ravenscraig rail bridge [TCI]

Date: 15/03/2022

Story Contracting has been picked to build a £16.9m bridge to carry the West Coast Main Line as part of road improvements between Motherwell and Ravenscraig.

North Lanarkshire Council has agreed the project with Network Rail. A new dual carriageway will be built from a new signalised roundabout at the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility and the bridge will be constructed to lift the railway line over the new road.

[This location for this bridge is east of the Dalzell Steel Works by the site of the former Dellburn Works. A railway formerly passed under the WCML here serving Dalzell New Yard from Motherwell South Junction. -RS]
