The final remnant of Scotland's last coal fired power station will be razed when Longannet's chimney is blown to the ground. ScottishPower will demolish the 600ft stack, which has dominated the Forth skyline for decades, on Thursday morning.

It has an installed capacity of 2,400 megawatts, making it the third largest coal-fired power station in Europe after Belchatow, Poland and Drax, North Yorkshire.
