Rail freight moved across Britains railway returns to pre-pandemic levels [ORR]

The amount of freight moved across Britain's railway has returned to pre-pandemic levels according to statistics published by the Office of Rail and Road today. The regulator's Freight Rail Usage and Performance stats show that in the first quarter of this year (April to June 2021) a total of 4.33 billion net tonne-kilometres of rail freight was moved across the network. This is an increase of 36.5% on the same quarter last year (2020-21 Q1), and an increase by 1.3% compared with the same quarter two years ago (2019-20 Q1).
