Learning from Carmont [Rail Engineer]

Although the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) has yet to produce its final report on the fatal train crash at Carmont on 12 August 2020, there are now clear lessons about earthworks and weather management from this tragic event. Network Rails earthworks assets comprise 70,000 soil cuttings, 20,000 rock cuttings and 100,000 embankments.
