The age-old practice of travellers having to hold out their hand to stop and board trains at Scotlands remotest stations appears set to become a thing of the past. Passengers will no longer have to flag down trains at request stops under novel plans to make services run more punctually. The practice would be replaced by a new press-and-ride system.
