Classic BR uniforms glimpsed at Ellon from the 12.25 Aberdeen-Fraserburgh train on Saturday 1st May 1965, with driver and secondman hanging out of the NBL Type 2 at the front (yes, a diesel locomotive). The Station Master - identified by the copious gold braid - is Alastair Farquhar, who hailed from Buckie. He had previously been based at lonely Riccarton Junction, and would face yet more change in five months' time when passenger trains were withdrawn from the Fraserburgh and Peterhead lines.
