Locomotion museum celebrates 10th anniversary [BBC News]

A tourist attraction in County Durham is celebrating its 10th birthday. Locomotion, the National Railway Museum at Shildon, is playing host to a number of guest steam locomotives from around the UK to mark the occasion over the weekend. When it opened, visitor expectations were set at about 60,000 a year, but a decade on it attracts more than 200,000 people annually. [From Mark Bartlett]

Having been transferred from York the previous week behind Deltic 55002 [See image 41111] 6229 Duchess of Hamilton and its LMS coach are given a thorough clean by a group of Friends at Locomotion, Shildon. The connecting rods, removed for the rail transfer, had not been refitted at this time but the loco still looked magnificent.
