Million-dollar offer can't lure WWII locomotive away from Green Bay [Green Bay Press Gazette]

Railroad buffs across the Atlantic are so enamored with a rare World War II locomotive on loan from the National Railroad Museum that one of them has offered a hefty sum to keep the historic piece in England. A personal check for $1 million from a British businessman arrived mysteriously on Christmas Eve at the home of the museum’s former board president. But museum officials say the locomotive named after President Dwight D. Eisenhower is not for sale, and they are working to bring it back to the United States this summer.
