What manufacturer Mechan says is the largest-capacity rail traverser in the UK forms part of the recently-opened North Rail Terminal at the Port of Felixstowe. The 30 m traverser is used to move locomotives between tracks when running round their trains. It weighs 90 tonnes, and has a capacity of 170 tonnes.

Class 10 'Colonel Tomline' (D3489) pulls a rake of container wagons through Felixstowe Beach station on 14th April 1984. It is about to reverse the wagons into a siding to clear the path for an incoming container train. This well known locomotive was eventually retired from the docks in 2001 after almost 32 years of service there and is now preserved on the Spa Valley Railway.

Freightliner 90016 with containers for Felixstowe signalled for the Stratford route approaching Camden Road East Junction in July 2005. The right fork descends to join the down ECML just before it enters Copenhagen tunnel.
