Campaigners to walk old railway route to highlight the need for it to be rebuilt [Biggleswade Chronicle]

Rail users are campaigning for a track connecting Bedford and Cambridge. On Saturday, June 29 members of Railfuture and Campaign for Better Transport will walk from Bedford to Sandy to highlight the campaign. The route from Oxford to Bedford is due to open in 2017 and this would extend the route still further.

Remains of the old station at Bedford St Johns on the Oxford - Cambridge line, seen around 1976 looking east towards Sandy. The station was closed in 1984 when a replacement was opened on the spur running north towards Bedford Midland off to the left. [See image 34689]
