The station forecourt at Newburgh, Fife, in the summer of 2005, looking west. The main station building lies straight ahead, partially hidden amongst the trees, with the Perth - Ladybank line running beyond (part of the surviving platform canopy can just be seen). Ahead and to the right lay the surprisingly large goods yard, with a number of its former buildings now put to commercial use [see image 1624]. The case for reopening the station, which closed to passengers in September 1955, has been taken up recently by a local lobby group.

The old booking hall at Newburgh station on 10 July 2009. Opened by the Edinburgh and Northern Railway in 1848 (original station further east - Ed), the station closed to passenger traffic in September 1955. Along with a number of former stations in Fife, there have been calls to have train services reinstated here.
