IT might seem an unlikely winner for a beauty award but Wishaw Railway Station has just been given a gong by Keep Scotland Beautiful.

The Caledonian Railway station building on the Glasgow-bound side at Wishaw (formerly Wishaw Central) had obviously seen better days when this photograph was taken in August 1997. It managed to survive until 2000 and was replaced in the brushed aluminium and glass look, and is still staffed.
