![There is an old saying... <I>'two's company, three's a crowd'.</I> This could apply to the railway bridges over the initial section of the Dewsbury branch of the Calder & Hebble Navigation Canal at Thornhill Lees, where the two rail bridges, the original stone arch bridge and a later steel bridge, have kept close company with each other for many decades; only to have a new bridge carrying an high pressure gas pipeline placed up close and impersonal on the south side.
