![Preserved Hunslet Class 05 shunter D2595 sporting a shiny coat of BR Blue paint inside the Ribble Steam Railway shed on Preston Docks. The narrow cab door is very noticeable and was probably a challenge to some BR drivers. Although many 05s worked in Scotland this was an Eastern Region loco and behind it is one of the RSR diesel shunters used to haul the bitumen tanks from the exchange sidings to the discharge terminal [See image 23760].<br><br>[Mark Bartlett 13/04/2009]](/images/24000/24098.jpg "Ribble Steam Railway Workshops")

![Shunter 08628 was bought by the Ribble Steam Railway with a view to restoration followed by deployment on the Bitumen Tanker trains and passenger services. However, it became clear that repairs would be a long and very expensive process and, as other similar locos in working order were scheduled to arrive, it was stripped for spares and breaking. The former D3795, withdrawn from Bescot in 1999, is seen here inside the RSR running shed for component recovery in July 2012. ![LMS 3F 0-6-0T 47472 was an ever present feature of Preston station for many years and known as <I>City of Preston</I> by local enthusiasts. 47472 was scrapped in 1967 but the Ribble Steam Railway brought classmate 47406 from the GCR for a Preston Guild event and recreated the local legend. ![A new addition to the Ribble Steam Railway stock is Railbus E79960, on long term loan from the North Norfolk Railway. ![Dutch <I>Class 11</I> 0-6-0DE NS 663 undergoes light maintenance outside the Ribble Steam running shed and workshops on 14th December. LMS/BR Class 11 shunters were not fitted with train brakes but the Dutch versions were air brake fitted as seen here. NS 663 is one of two on the RSR as NS 601 is on static display in the museum here. ![What remains of 08628 sits outside the RSR workshops in October 2015 while the last few usable parts are removed. The fuel tank, seen here alongside the stripped shunter, had the appearance of a tombstone. Although dismantling had been a slow process [See image 40433], looking at this loco it seemed that 08628 could not be around that much longer and by February 2016 it was in Andrew Goodman's yard near Sutton Coldfield in this stripped-down condition.<br><br>[Mark Bartlett 04/10/2015]](/images/52000/52838.jpg "Ribble Steam Railway Workshops")
![A recent arrival at the RSR awaits its turn in the workshops. <I>Glenfield</I> is a 5-ton capacity Andrew Barclay (880/1902) crane tank that spent most of its life in Kilmarnock working for its builder. ![Grant Ritchie 272 of 1894, an 0-4-0ST once resident in the Fife coalfield, now restored from scrapyard condition to full working order by Ribble Steam Railway volunteers [See image 56443]. Behind this rare survivor is USA 0-6-0T 30072, for many years a member of the KWVR fleet at Haworth but now being refurbished by the RSR.<br>
