![The former single line link from Lancaster Castle to Green Ayre station was electrified until closure in 1966, as was the line to Morecambe that passed over the curving bridge in the background - now a road. Green Ayre steam shed was behind the trees alongside this link line, now a supermarket. ![View towards Halton from approximately the end of the platforms at Lancaster Green Ayre station, now a park close by the River Lune. This would also have been the limit of the electrification masts and catenary for the EMU services from Morecambe and Heysham, which reversed here to traverse the link up to Lancaster Castle station. ![Formerly an overhead electrified rail route, Greyhound Bridge on the other Lancaster to Morecambe line closed to trains in 1966 and was soon converted for road traffic. ![Lancaster Green Ayre steam shed was sited near to the station of the same name alongside the single track link line to Lancaster Castle station, which is now the cycleway seen here alongside the River Lune. Greyhound Bridge, seen curving away to the right, carried the direct line to Morecambe until it closed in 1966 and was soon afterwards turned into a road bridge. ![A short single track line from Lancaster Castle dropped down to Lancaster Green Ayre, alongside the River Lune. Originally electrified it closed to passengers in 1966 but remained open to serve Lancaster Power Station until around 1980. The entire length has since been incorporated into Lancaster's network of cycle paths.
