Glespin Signal Box (1877-1904)

Description

This signal box controlled access to the sidings for the loading point of Glespin Colliery. The sidings had two connections to the main line on either side of the loading point, both approached from the north east. Sidings were on the south/east side of the line. A n inclined tramway ran downhill to the south east to Glespin Colliery on the north bank of the Douglas Water.

The box closed in 1904 and a ground frame installed for the sidings.

The line closed in 1964. The trackbed now makes a pleasant walk.
