Wemyss Bay: An aerial view of Wemyss Bay station and Pier. Network Rail is preparing to begin essential vegetation management work along the railway between Wemyss Bay and Inverkip, involving clearing overgrown trees and plants that could pose a risk to trains and passengers.

Appleby: A break in the rain as 37418 'An Comunn Gaidhealach' and 37508 propel inspection saloon 975025 'Caroline' away from Appleby after the briefest of pauses working the 2Z01 0914 Derby to Preston via Stoke, Manchester, Bolton, Blackburn, S&C and then back down Shap on Tuesday 1st July 2025.

Potter's Grange Junction: Guardian Glass constructed a new factory on the west side of Goole in 2003, or thereabouts, which included a branch of approximately 1.5km to serve the plant. This left the Wakefield line almost immediately beyond Potters Grange Junction. In November 2005, 66233 has recently arrived on the 04.00 from Peterborough Yard and is running round its train in preparation for unloading.

Ashington: Class 158 Supersprinter units are the staple rolling stock on the Ashington branch although Class 156s are also employed. 158855 has just arrived from Newcastle and a smart six minute turnround is allowed before its return journey commences. In the background can be seen the platform of the original station and also the freight lines which continue in daily use for trains conveying biomass pellets from Tyne Dock to Lynemouth Power Station.
