Cumwhinton: An unidentified Peak heads a Glasgow Central to Nottingham express passing through the disused station at Cumwhinton, south of Carlisle, in 1991. Image taken with a Yashicamat 124G twin lens reflex camera. Image probably taken in April 1991.
Woofferton: After nearly 40 years' familiarity with the railways around Tenbury, I became aware that the curve round to Woofferton Junction included a tunnel under the A49. The Internet told me that the tunnel had been filled in, but that part of the West portal top wall could be found in the car park of Woofferton (road vehicle) services. Here it is in April 2025.
Liverpool Exchange: Tony was on the LCGB 'Pennine Venturer' tour to Liverpool Exchange on 24th January 1976. 25036 and 25048 are recorded here. A cold day. Exchange closed in April 1977.
Esslemont: For comparison with Mark's recent photograph of the same location, here is the overbridge at Esslemont when the trackbed was being converted into a foot/cyclepath in 1997.
Esslemont: A typical bridge on the Formartine and Buchan lines, which saw its last goods train in 1979 and was later converted into this superb greenway. This particular bridge lies just to the north of Esslemont station and some public access stairs have been provided.
Birmingham Moor Street [Terminus]: Slightly elevated view of the station frontage at Birmingham Moor Street in April 2025
Glenfarg South Tunnel: Looking south out of the southern of the two Glenfarg tunnels with a distinct chill in the air. There was a fair bit of debris in this tunnel on this visit, but not as much as I've seen previously. And there's those fenceposts.
Coatbridge Sunnyside: 320304 and 320311 call at Coatbridge Sunnyside, with the 14.43 from Airdrie to Balloch, on 2nd May 2025.
