Esslemont: This 2025 view, along the lane leading to Esslemont station, illustrates the remote nature of the site and perhaps why it closed in 1952, thirteen years before passenger services from Fraserburgh to Aberdeen finished. The line itself ran in the cutting to the left of the picture, and after the last goods train in 1979 it was converted to a cycleway.

Esslemont: The goods yard at Esslemont had just a single siding and loading dock. The yard is now part of the garden of the station house and this LNER sign at the garden gate is a nice touch.

Spey Bay: 6th April 1968 was not the nicest of days at Spey Bay, as can be seen from the shot, but it was my only trip over the Coast line from Elgin to Cairnie as the line closed completely in May of that year.
