Bolton Abbey: The derelict station at Bolton Abbey in 1991, having closed in 1965. Thirty years after the closure the site was bought by the Yorkshire Dales Railway and it reopened in 1998 with trains to Embsay.
Millport Pier: Millport’s regular steamer, the 'Talisman’', making her lunchtime call at the pier. The photograph was taken in September 1964.
Queen of the South Viaduct: A March 2024 view of the Queen of the South Viaduct, that carried the tracks of the 'Port Road' out of Dumfries towards Stranraer until 1965.
Aviemore: Ivatt Class 2 No.46512 departs Aviemore for Broomhill with the first train of 2024. 14/02/24
Stockport Edgeley Shed: 'Black 5 Central' at Stockport Edgeley shed in March 1968, with 45312 in the foreground.
Queen of the South Viaduct: A trackbed view across the Queen of the South Viaduct in March 2024. The line to Stranraer closed in 1965 but a stub to Maxwelltown remained open for oil traffic until the late 1980s. After the track was eventually lifted in 2004 this section of the old line was repurposed as a nicely surfaced cycle route
Bromborough: 777011 calls at Bromborough with 2C25, the 1215 from Chester to Liverpool Central on 25th January 2024. I only saw one class 507 on this part of Merseyrail. All other duties were worked by the new 777 units.
Kensington Olympia: Supposed to be steam hauled to Canterbury from West London, this special on 13th March 2024 turned out to have 47805 working it. It was also late, delayed by line closure on the Western Region. The special, which had nice coaching stock, started from Kidderminster.
