Gartness: Gartness station level crossing in 1995 showing the railway style fencing which replaced the former level crossing gates and was in turn replaced by new fencing when a house was built here.
North End: This bunker round the back of North End Road between Hampstead and Golders Green was to have been where North End station would be, later to have been called Bull and Bush after the well-known pub (though the present pub is not the one immortalised in the old song). Only the platforms and linking subways were built before it was decided not to proceed and it never opened, becoming instead 'The Station That Never Was' of the London Underground's Northern Line. However, in 1956 during the Cold War, it was decided to expand the station and create a bunker, now locked-up and empty as seen here on 26th January 2023.
Ferryhill Junction: The embankment west of Ferryhill Junction on the Deeside Line is still visible between garden fences. The Ferryhill Railway Trust are planning to re-lay tracks on the vegetated area in the foreground. Where the track was at grade the Deeside Railway had a temporary goods station from February to November 1854.
Abbey Wood: 465159 arrives at Abbey Wood with an eastbound service on 25 January 2023. Had the template for applying numbers been misplaced when this unit was shopped?
Quorn and Woodhouse: Consecutively numbered BR Standard 2MT 2-6-0s 78018 and 78019 were both in steam during the GCR gala in January 2023. This is 78018 passing through Quorn with a freight train.
Greenhill Lower Junction: 26040, running light locomotive, is seen approaching Greenhill Lower Junction in 1991
Redbridge Viaduct: The bridge built to carry the Waverley route over the River Tweed between Galashiels and Tweedbank, seen here looking south in October 2014. Following closure of the railway in 1969 the structure became part of a busy pedestrian link between the two locations known locally as 'the black path'. The scene shows work in progress in connection with the new Borders Railway, on completion of which trains would share the crossing with pedestrians, cyclists ...and bats! (See image [[45114]])
Fort Augustus: This was the view south in 2000 of Fort Augustus station's throat showing sleeper indentations from three parallel tracks. The trackbed is now more overgrown.
Maida Vale: A period feel about this direction notice at Maida Vale, southbound platform, on the Bakerloo Line on 28th January 2023.
Gauxholme Wharf: The warehouse at Gauxholme Wharf near Todmorden has been converted into canalside apartments but its origins, including the arch where boats could sail inside, are still evident. This 2022 view looks towards Todmorden, with further locks behind the camera on the ascent to Summit.
Stirling Road Junction: Looking east towards the Watsonhead coal loading pad with the Coltness branch diverging to the left at Stirling Road Junction in 2001.
Kennethmont: View of Kennethmont from the front of an Aberdeen to Inverness DMU in 1964.
Haymarket [Tram]: Self explanatory notice seen at Haymarket on 11th February 2023.
Östersund Central: ASEA RC4 loco Elektra in overall red livery of Inlandståg in the goods yard at Östersund Central. Most of the wagons behind and around this train of tank wagons are filled with timber from the Jämtland forests. The bridge over the tracks is a new pedestrian and cycle bridge giving access to a new area of the city being developed next to Storsjön just visible to the left of the loco. Perhaps Östersund should be twinned with Inverness as both have a mysterious creature living in the nearby loch-in this case Storsie, a cousin of Nessie?
