Eisenerz: OBB Class 52 2-10-0 52 7064 shunts its train at Eisenerz, after arriving with a local service from Hieflau in August 1970. Eisenerz was at the northern end of the famous Erzberg ('Ore Mountain') rack railway, which over many years transported large quantities of iron ore quarried from the Erzberg, seen here in the background and mostly chiselled into rock terraces after many years of ore extraction. The rack railway eventually closed in 1988, although its southern ramp remains open as a preserved line.

Bradley Fold: Fifty years earlier this view towards Bolton at Bradley Fold would have been from the tracks between the platforms with a level crossing in the foreground, controlled by a signal box. Bolton to Castleton near Rochdale closed in 1970 but to the east of Bury is now part of the East Lancashire Railway. The western half has been less fortunate bt large sections form part of a public greenway.

Arnos Grove: One of Dr. Charles Holden's most iconic designs, the circular entrance tower building to Arnos Grove, LU Piccadilly Line, seen here as the night begins to descend around it, on 9th January 2023. Now a Grade II Listed Structure, it looks nowhere near its 90 years of age which it achieved on 19th September 2022, such was the genius of Dr. Holden.

Deptford Creek Lifting Bridge: Deptford Creek Lifting Bridge, just a little to the west of Greenwich main line and DLR stations, seen from above on 26 January 2023. The line opened in 1836 and this bridge, dating from 1963, replaced an earlier structure and allowed high vessels to pass upstream. This third bridge on the site was welded shut around 2000 and is now a listed structure. A Lewisham branch (opened on 20 November 1999) DLR train passes beyond.
