Hayes Knoll: I made a quick trip down to the Swindon & Cricklade Rly on 24 September 2022, in time hopefully to see the newly overhauled GWR 0-6-2T 6695 running about. It was in steam but unfortunately parked up near the Hayes Knoll signal box with a few minor faults.
Pleasure Beach [Tram]: Flexity 017 runs south towards Starr Gate, on a quiet section of the Blackpool Promenade, on 20th September 2022. It will be a lot busier in the evening after the illuminations are switched on.
Airdrie: 334022 uses its recently gained freedom to work to Edinburgh in July 2015. Airdrie station looked a lot better than on my last visit, when trains could only go West; as a terminus, it was bedraggled and depressing.
Par: A view west at Par from the road bridge in October 2015. On the right hand side of the island platform is 153329 prepares to depart to Newquay.
East Linton: A 'grab shot' of the new Up platform seen today from an Aberdeen-Plymouth train.
Loanhead: Modifications to the former booking office at Loanhead continue, with an extension now occupying part of the old station forecourt. View north from the adjacent public car park on 25 September 2022.
Southport: Class 769 769458 arrives a couple of minutes late at Southport from Stalybridge. It joins 769456 already in the staion and which is soon to depart with the 11.16 for Alderley Edge on 24th September 2022.
Elderslie: 57270 was a surprise visitor to Elderslie on 10 August 1963 and is seen shunting near the No. 1 signal box in pouring rain. The veteran was one of the last surviving Jumbos, being withdrawn from Ardrossan shed in November of that year.
Spean Bridge: A solitary passenger leaves the ex-12.22 service from Glasgow Queen Street to Mallaig, reversing at Fort William, at Spean Bridge on Wednesday, 7th September 2022. This station opened with the West Highland Line in 1894 and from 1903 became the junction for a branch that ran north through the Great Glen to Fort Augustus. The passenger service on that line only lasted until 1933 and it was completely abandoned in 1947.
Brewers Barn Bridge 129A [LC]: The Lancaster Canal bridges were numbered from early days, if not the start of operations in 1797. Bridge 1 was in Preston and Bridge 188 in Kendal. Later bridges were given A and B numbers. Bridge 129B (almost a box tunnel really) from the 1960s takes the canal under the M6 just to the north of Junction 35. Going south the canal was diverted from its original route to pass under the M6 at right angles and then turn sharp left on a new section until the original route is reached.
Amsterdam Central: 1651, later renumbered 1851, passes through Amsterdam Centraal with a westbound freight in 1992.
North Queensferry [1st]: All stand aside to make way for an MG Magnette coming off the ferry 'Robert the Bruce' at North Queensferry. Behind, an Austin Westminster is maneuvering to follow. The photograph was taken on 4th September 1964, the final day of operation of the ferry service, which became redundant with the opening of the Forth Road Bridge.
Saint Germain des Fosses: Two days before the last of BR steam ended, SNCF American-built Mikados bask in the sunshine in the shed yard at St Germain des Fosses, not far from Vichy. Nearest the camera is 141R658 and facing the other way is 141R670.
