Becconsall: Kerr Stuart Tattoo class 0-4-2ST 'Stanhope' has returned to the WLLR for a few months and is seen at Becconsall station on 19 December 2021. The loco is waiting to move out of the platform and head to the sidings so that it is ready for another train to Toyland.

Soham: A brand new station. The 12.50 from Ipswich to Peterborough departs after calling at Soham on 16th December 2021. Prior to three days earlier, only Soham residents well over the age of 56 could have claimed to have boarded, or alighted from, a passenger service here. The positive impression created by the new station architecture and facilities is undone somewhat by the extensive use of visually intimidating high-security palisade fencing throughout the premises, as would be more befitting a high risk inner city depot than a rural station in Cambridgeshire.

Silloth: The view east towards Abbeytown, from the B5300 bridge over the station throat at Silloth, in December 2021. The line closed in 1964 and the bridge is now the main reminder of the railways existence in the town. It was a different scene in 1951 as image [[9325]] shows.

Bedworth: Its good to see a ticket machine at Bedworth; its location does not commit you to walking down to the wrong platform and up again. The phrase mugging alley does, however, spring to mind. View looks towards Nuneaton in September 2021.

New Mills Central: Looking east from New Mills Central station can be seen two tunnels. The one on the right is still in use and leads to New Mills South Junction. The one on the left (visible again for the first time in a number of years thanks to some vegetation clearance) was on the branch to Hayfield. In front of these two tunnels was New Mills Junction however the Hayfield branch closed in January 1970. A turnback siding remained for a few years longer although that was eventually lifted as well. That ended the junction at this location.

East Loch Tarbert Pier: 'MV Lochnevis' calling at Tarbert in March 1966. The 'Lochnevis' was operating MacBrayne's Gourock to Ardrishaig mail service in place of the more usual 'Lochfyne', as I think she did in spring/early summer over several years. Note the connecting MacBrayne's bus on the pier.
