Marampa Mine: A Scottish railway in Africa. This is an aerial view of the concentrating mills 2 and 3 at the Marampa Mine, Sierra Leone in 1960. William Baird & Co, of the Gartsherrie Iron Works, was heavily involved in the development of this mine in the 1930s to secure an ongoing iron ore supply once local supplies were exhausted. At the bottom of the view is the railway which ran west 52 miles to Pepel Island where an associated bulk loading pier was built. The railway was a 3ft 6in.

Moy: It is -2C, and 68006 'Daring' is almost three hours late as it crosses the moor at Moy with 4H47, on the way to Inverness on 23rd January 2021. The delay was caused by 68005 'Defiant' failing and 68006 having to come from Carlisle as a replacement. There was more snow overnight and the train's slipstream causes a cloud of spindrift to follow it.

Montfode Fuel Depot Sidings: On a wet and dismal Saturday morning DB 66 206 is stationary at the former Montfode Fuel Depot Sidings with a materials train in connection with weekend track relaying in the Stevenston and Saltcoats area. There are two stop markers on the track just in front of the locomotive. A second train hauled by Freightliner 66 544 appeared at the rear, uncoupled from its own train and moved forward to couple to the first train. These are the first rail movements on the bi-directional electrified line north of Ardrossan since 5th February 2021.
