Easter Road Junction: Looking east along the moribund Granton (latterly Powderhall) branch in 1987 with the Redpath Brown factory on the left and the site of their sidings alongside.
Montfode Fuel Depot Sidings: Thursday 18th February 2021 and with the bi-directional electrified line still out of use, the appropriately named 68 002 Intrepid proceeds cautiously wrong line north from Ardrossan to Hunterston with the flask train on the non-electrified freight line. Unusually, 68 006 Daring is at the rear. The train is usually double headed. This is the first train north of Ardrossan since Friday 5th February. Passenger train services have yet to resume. (The location is south of the former Montfode Fuel Depot.)
Bude: There arent too many signs today that the railway once made it to the north Cornish town of Bude. In 2008, whilst on holiday in the area, I discovered this former railway bridge over the River Neet. Although not part of the mainline, this bridge carried a branch from near the station to a goods yard at the harbour and canal wharf serving coal and agricultural merchants. In this view northwards, the station site was to the right.
Bay Horse: There was a brief period around 2018-2019 when Northern Class 158s were used on Barrow/Windermere to Manchester Airport services. On 23rd January 2019 158906 heads for Barrow at Bay Horse. These services went over to three-car CAF 195s from July that year.
RNAD Crombie: Possibly the only section of track which is clear of vegetation on the whole of the branch from Elbowend Junction is the short section on the bridge over the Lyne Burn immediately in front of the gates to RNAD Crombie. The track has been lifted beyond the gates.
Farington Junction: After failing early on on the 6H51 Hardendale to Tunstead empties on 9 February 2021, 70008 was rescued from Shap loop by 90005 sent from Crewe. The train is seen heading south at Farington Junction running as 4Z51 to Crewe.
Brunstane: A northbound train on the Borders Railway approaching Brunstane from the Newcraighall direction in October 2015. This will be the final stop on its journey before reaching Waverley, just over 7 minutes away.
Loch Treig Base Camp: This is the original course of the West Highland Railway by Loch Treig taken in 2005 at a small bridge where the line passed over a minor burn. The present alignment is above to the right and the [[Loch Treig Tunnel]] is above and behind the camera. Ahead is the site of the Loch Treig Base Camp from which a small puffer operated to lochside construction locations to the south with materials. Note that the water was unusually low and this location is usually some way underwater. View looks north towards [[Loch Treig Dam]].
Holywell Halt: Former Ilkley to Skipton line, viewed looking towards Bolton Abbey from the A59 Skipton to Harrogate road in 1991. This was shortly after the then Yorkshire Dales Railway had relaid track beyond Holywell Halt sited a short distance towards Embsay behind the camera. See image [[75770]] for an earlier view from the same location

Millport Pier: 'PS Caledonia' arriving at Millport Old Pier, in the summer of 1961. She had been built in 1934, saw wartime service as a minesweeper and then an anti-aircraft ship and was finally withdrawn in 1969.
