Tarbolton: Scene at Tarbolton, Ayrshire, in March 1959, some 16 years after the station had closed to passengers. View is east towards Mauchline. For the same view 38 years later [see image 53908].
Dalmeny: A Fife local comes off the bridge and into Dalmeny - to pick up me. Electrification of Fife services is a long-term aim. I don't know about you but I find the prospect of live wires across the Forth Bridge alarming - in more ways than one.
Bay Horse: Drifting steam from the pilot, Black 5 45212, partially obscures train engine 60103 Flying Scotsman as they pass Bay Horse on 18th June 2018. This was the last few miles of a run from London Victoria to Carnforth with the Lakes Express (Day 1).
Chester-le-Street: EWS liveried 67008 brings up the rear of The Geordie-Go-Round rail tour returning to Kings Cross through Chester-Le-Street on 7th April 2018. 67018 had assisted 67008 with the tour on the North Blyth branch but the return from Tyne Yard was hauled by DB 90035.
Brotton: The old goods shed at Brotton, Cleveland, seen from the High Street in October 2009. The shed is used as a storage facility by the Tyre and Exhaust Centre off to the left, which itself utilises part of the former station building. [See image 32086] [Ref query 17 June 2018]
Ely: Grab shot of Class 365 EMUs in store at the Derek Potter Group depot at Ely on 14th June 2018. There are lots more still in service at Kings Cross and Peterborough.
Winchcombe: USA S160 Class 2-8-0 No. 5197 at the rear of a train heading for Toddington at Winchcombe during the 2018 GWR Gala..
Carlisle Durranhill Shed: Panorama showing the wide open spaces on the eastern approach to Carlisle in February 2007, much changed since the heydey of the railways. Off to the left stood the Midland's Durranhill shed, with a large goods yard beyond and Petterill Bridge goods station in the left background. To the right was the NER goods yard, then London Road (goods) station, with the NER locomotive shed alongside. The scrubland in the centre, separating the parallel Midland (on which the DMU is approaching) and NE routes, was also occupied by sidings. Former railway land is gradually being reclaimed for commercial use, with the haulage company in the left background located on what is now Brunel Way, part of Carlisle's Durranhill Industrial Estate.
Larbert: A Dunblane to Edinburgh service approaches Larbert on 30 May. The closed Larbert North box is still looking good, which is more than can be said for Carmuirs East box which is a shell.
