Wigan Central

A station I would like to have visited when open was Wigan Central, if for no other reason than to see the interior of the main building. My one and only visit was in the early 1970s but even in dereliction it still looked impressive. Passenger services ended in November 1964 and total closure came in April 1965 followed by demolition reported as taking place in 1973. In addition to the platform visible there was apparently an island platform removed in the 1930s.
